On this day, August 8, 1974, President Richard Nixon announced he would resign following damaging revelations in the Watergate scandal. It was August 8, 1974, Washington, DC, that Richard Milhous Nixon (37th President) announced that he had given up his long arduous fight to remain in office and would resign, effective at noon the next day, August 9, 1974.

Cameron Family of Virginia

Peggy McClanhan has a request concerning the CAMERON FAMILY (Written By Maria Boys Cochran Sterrett who died October 31, 1920). The first of this family, who came to America, was Dr. John Cameron who was a son of Cameron of Fassifern, a grandson of Sir Evan Dhu Cameron, and a nephew of Lochiel, the last chief of the Cameron Clan. One of Campbell's best poems "Lochiel" describes Sir Lockiel just before his defeat at the battle of Culloden.

Mary Jane (Loveday) McGill's Homicide - 1920

The image on the left shows a Certificate of Death - Place of death, Knoxville, Knox, TN; Mary (Loveday) McGill, died 16 June 1920 from a pistol shot, at home at the age of 50 years. Mary was the daughter of George Loveday (TN) and Elizabeth Helton (TN). Who shot Mary Jane Loveday McGill?

Towns Of Alfalfa County, OK

Aline -- Aline was laid out in 1901 by the engineer of the Choctaw Northern Railroad. The promoter of the Choctaw northern, Beeks Erick, helped to purchase the town site from Mr. Russell at a time when the town site company was having difficulty in raising enough money to put over the deal.
