Did your ancestors ever tell you the story about the Sand cyclone that swept the prairie near Enid at a terrific rate, near Enid, Oklahoma Territory, 22 September 1893? The following appeared in The Chanute Daily Tribune,, Chanute, Kansas, 22 September 1893, Friday, on page 1: "Sand Cyclone."

Sept., 1893 - The Smoke Has Cleared Away

A few days after the Run of 1893 in Oklahoma Territory, 21 September 1893, Thursday, page 1, of The Guthrie Daily Leader, out of Guthrie, Oklahoma, reported, "The Smoke Has Cleared Away." And the ship shined in pristine glory. It also reported about affairs at live Alva, and something about the towns on the Northern Border. Stories were told on wagon covers. Prairie schooners, like the tide, come and go. The one great cry is for rain - lot contestants - Late Accidents - News from the Strip.

Have you heard the story that appeared in the 21 September 1893, Thursday, page 1, of The Guthrie Daily Leader, out of Guthrie, Oklahoma, reported, "Fatal Prairie Fire." A settler lost his wife, two children and $1,400 in money.

It was Saturday, 16 September 1893, The Chanute Daily Tribune, out of Chanute, Kansas, reported on page 1, "All Ready." Three hundred thousand persons to make the rush. The border scenes indescribable. Great suffering at Orlando - Six deaths from prostration - More Sooners corralled in the strip.
