100 Years Ago Today 2 January 1912

On the front page of The Democratic Banner, dated Tuesday, January 02, 1912, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, we find the following headlines: "Ohio Progressives laud Both LaFollette and Roosevelt," "Wife of Ohio's Executive tries to reform a pardoned convict," "Sensational Suit Filed," "Toledo council to compel three-cent car fares," etc.

Let us see what one of the "Sensational Suit Filed" was all about, though. It seems Ernest Schiappacasse brought a damage suit for $10,000 for alleged alienation of his wife's affections and names Thomas Murray defendant in the suit was one of the sensational suit filed that year.

The plaintiff, Ernest Schiappacasse, stead on November 1, 1911, the said defendant wickedly debauched Muriel Schiappacasse, being the wife of the plaintiff at that time. The plaintiff stated that by this means the affection of the said Muriel had been alienated from the plaintiff and that by the reason of such action the plaintiff has been brought to grew shame and humiliation.

the plaintiff claimed to have been damaged in the sumo $10,000 and seemed to recover a judgment in that amount, being represented by Neal & Sapp for the plaintiff.

I wonder how and who (plaintiff or defendant) won that sensational suit of 1912?   |  View or Add Comments (0 Comments)   |   Receive updates ( subscribers)  |   Unsubscribe
